Drawing Room Confession will represent live, one of the conversation published in ISSUE#4 in-between the Double Dealer and David Lamelas. During the performance, the footnotes will be delivered by an actor.

Using the journal as a script, a series of exchanges with the main characters of the publication (The Egoist, The Blind Man, Tango, Madeleine & The Double Dealer) have been recorded in a radio broadcast studio and produced as a short pilot program.

L’entremet initiates a collaborative process with artists,
the institution and the public to  question the notions of
interpretation and reception of the work. These issues are being
perspective with the use of the recipe and its features both
archiving, relating always the result to a process past, and score,
giving instructions for a future realization.
The recipe can be considered as a medium
embodying multiple subjectivities and whose future
depends on its interpretation.
L’entremet is a program in two parts.
First, it brings A Constructed World,

In October 2009 Casco initiated ‘The Grand Domestic
Revolution – User’s Manual’(GDR) in response to
an invitation from ‘Utrecht Manifest: Biennial
for Social Design’ to develop a project that
would question and challenge the very notion
of social design. With the aim of re-articulating
and exercising notions of the social, the public
and the commons, and departing from the grounds
of the domestic sphere, GDR evolved into a
long-term research platform and residency
exploring the urgent domestic concerns of
today and the potential transformative
ways to engage them.

« American Psycho (Chicago) »

MacLean 705, a project space located within an office atrium of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, is pleased to present American Psycho by the UK-based design group, Åbäke. American Psycho consists of a series of business cards which are derived from a scene in the novel American Psycho, where they go on and on about . . . their business cards.
Bone vs. eggshell?
Silian Rail vs. Romalian?
Letterpress vs. raised type?
Åbäke’s strategy is to take a conversation about business cards and turn it into a discussion about the rhetoric of visual information design by placing the discussion back at the very point where it started: on a business card.

MacLean 705 is a project space devoted to short-term exhibitions that explore the space of art and human relations. Currently on view is Nico Dockx’s audio project, Erased Rirkrit Tiravanija Demonstration Drawing. The projects are organized by Joseph Grigely and administered by the Department of Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  The space is open when the door of MacLean 705 is open, and by appointment. Following on from Part 1 (24 September – 19 November) Museum Show Part 2 is the second chapter of Arnolfini’s Museum Show, a major historical survey of museums created by artists. Museum Show – a ‘museum of museums’ perhaps – presents a comprehensive selection of these highly idiosyncratic, semi-fictional institutions. It is the first ever exhibition to chart this particular tendency in contemporary art.

The Victoria and Alferd museum is a not-for-profit institution founded by Prune Victoria, Ingalil Alferd and åbäke. The collection is based on personal curiosity, an interest for mistakes and tautological anomalies. The Victoria & Alferd Museum does not own any of the items but wish to share the availability of the associated stories. We do not see time, space, ownership or fiction as an obstacle to the collection.

Rock Drill by Jacob Epstein was dismantled by its sculptor as a reaction to the horrors of the first world war. It was resurrected in 1974 by Ken Cook and Ann Christoper RA for a Vorticist exhibition. The latter is usually on display at Birmingham city museum, less than 45 minutes away by walking from Eastside Projects.

« Chaumont Festival Catalogue »
The catalogs of the Chaumont Festival have been given special attention. “They are a complement to this year rather than the summary shows, explains Stephen Hervy. They have original content, work with specific formatting. The London collective Åbäke, in charge of their design, has produced two catalogs of the Festival. The French and English do not have the same dimensions (32.5 vs. 23.5 x22cm x16, 5cm, B5 size standard for Anglo-Saxon) or exactly the same texts, or the same typographic games. The English version contains the layout of the graphic magazine DotDotDot, the French version of the format and typography of a booklet of Olivetti.

« HaZaVuZu »
This book documents a form of cabin fever experienced by Istanbul based collective Ha Za Vu Zu during their fifty eight days residency at the Frac des Pays de la Loire, Nantes. Frac becomes a Solaris—manifesting hidden, nightmarish concerns for each member to confront, their satellite 
accomodation is the hovering research centre from which Ha Za Vu Zu make daily attempts to communicate, while the self-aware planet studies their responses to its psychological experiments. The works shown are grouped by theme and include reference, documentation and final works. Jean-Marc Huitorel’s essay What is to be Done? / Che Fare? contextualises the work. Ha Za Vu Zu were invited to participate in the « 23e Ateliers Internationaux du Frac des Pays de la
Loire » 
by Vasif Kortun, interviewed in the book by Céline Condorelli.

IFF’s next project is in part a celebration of the centenary of Roger Excoffon (1910—1983), the Marseille typographer & graphic designer responsible for numerous classic fonts such as Banco, Mistral, Antique Olive, Choc and others. IFF has commissioned a number of artists and designers to create new text posters which relate, utilize or appropriate some aspect of Excoffon’s work. The resulting posters will be displayed around Marseille and also as an exhibition.
